Meidlinger Market can be reached on foot in under 5 minutes and is a great place to eat. Shops in the area include InterSPAR, a shopping centre and a Hofer supermarket. Meidlinger Hauptstrasse, which is lined with shops and also has a post office and medical centre, is just a few minutes’ walk away.

Meidling, the "twelfth cut"

The 12th Viennese district covers an area of 8.21 km² and is home to approx. 85,000 people. It lies in the south-west of Vienna, about 5-10 km from the city centre.

Topographically it extends from the Wien river valley (south of the Wien river) to the plain between the Wienerberg (10th. district) and the “Grüner Berg" (the hill near Schönbrunn Palace, 13th district).

The former suburb of Vienna, which gave its name to the famous "Meidling L" of the south-Viennese dialect, mainly consists of two parts: A densely developed urban area lying closer towards the city centre (Obermeidling, Untermeidling and Gaudenzdorf), and a less developed area (Altmannsdorf and Hetzendorf) to the south-west.
